Guessing most people have seen the plans for the proposed Somerset Hub, shop, and offices.

The full application can be checked out via the link -

I think this would be a great addition to the club resources. Makes the shop more prominent for those potential impulse buys and away support visitors.  I'm assuming the existing social club bar - hospitality suite could still be used in conjunction with the new club.

I saw it on the planning permission site last week certainly looks the part ,I'd expect so this would be another income stream along with the current place

Extract from Ayrshire Post -

Quote"Our offices and shop are past their sell by date and the opportunity to develop the area next to the stadium into the Somerset Hub to future proof these alongside and new social club is the right direction for the club to take."

They added: "To make the club sustainable, attract talent and potential investment we need to firstly have the correct infrastructure in place.

"The Somerset Hub is actually the second phase of the long term strategy with phase one incorporating the remodelling and upgrading of the main stand ancillary areas ongoing at present.

"We hope to share some images of these in the coming weeks as progress continues.

"Ambition and strategy don't come for free unfortunately so Lachlan Cameron and David Smith are funding the Somerset Hub with Ayr United being the beneficiaries so that our income streams continue to increase and allow us to move onto further stages of our strategy.

"It's an exciting step forward for the club and will act as an attractive gateway into the stadium in the future.

"A big thanks to local architects, Denham Benn, for coming up with a scheme we are delighted with on such an odd shaped piece of land.

"We will work closely with South Ayrshire Council and other consultees over the next period relative to Planning Permission etc and look forward to the day we can grab a couple of pints in it before and after a game."

Anyone know what's going on at the main stand? or just the ongoing tiles, new kitchen (completed earlier) etc

The planning application has now been approved, the count down now on to the first new social club pint and of course shopping the new shop. No doubt the fresh offices will be a welcome addition to the club infrastructure.

Some debate on the other forum (remain nameless  ;D ) or what will happen with the existing hospitability suite. I'm assuming it would remain sole use of those using the boxes. Maybe some changes to how those packages are offered going forward.

It was also suggested it could be ready before end of season

Update on the Somerset Hub via the Ayr Advertiser

QuoteAYR United chairman Lachlan Cameron says a desire to "improve the matchday experience" for fans is behind ambitious plans to develop a new hub at the club's home.

Plans for the Somerset Hub, which will see a social club, offices and a shop installed outside the club's stadium, were given the green light by South Ayrshire Council recently and will now move to a design stage.

Speaking to the Advertiser, United chairman Cameron said: "We are always trying to improve the matchday experience and I love Somerset as do most of our supporters and I think away supporters love coming to Somerset. But the reality is it is in constant need of care and attention and there are areas that need constant improvement.
