It's about time we had one of these.
So who is new?

Doyle

Not a new face, but our new captain is Nicky Devlin, as he signs on the dotted line...[ 1 year deal ]

bazka6

Good signing , terrible choice as captain, he's 21 FFS. Is that what it took to get him to sign? For 1 year?

Great signing, only one of a handful a wanted to stay but captain? really? A would be hoping were going to be signing a few experienced payers and we have a 21 year old right back as the captain, bizarre.

ETA: also surely by making him captain we could have at least tied him down for a couple of seasons.

Wouldn't get too caught up in the captain nonsense .He might be only 21 but he is an inspirational player and a good signing!
I was convinced that he would try his luck elsewhere.
Some of you guys on here always seem to need something to moan about!!

Alifaeayr

Nicky Devlin gave it 110% every game and the boy has real passion and commitment , good luck to him as captain !!

Totally right in that last sentence

The way you lot are going on you'd think he was MVP of a championship winning team. Give us something else to talk about!

Ayrzurri

Spot on . Devlin would have been in the top 3 and didn't have a bad season last year in a rotten Ayr team but youd think it was the return of the messiah . The boys 21 and is a good full-back but lets not get carried away . Similar to Crawford . 2 or 3 half decent games and both are getting lauded as some kind of saviour by supporters .

Im sure things will change and signings will be added to the current squad but as it stands we still have the same midfield as last year consisting of Crawford , Gilmour and Donald , lost McGovern so if anything weaker , same defence as last year consisting of Devlin , Campbell and Murphy and again up to now weaker . No senior striker so again weaker . So right now were sitting worse off .

Other teams seem to be building their squads already , so fans have got every right to be a bit concerned and not everyone can get excited about a new strip and the launch of the new season ticket . Forgot the fancy new video as well (bit embarresing) . Lets see what the next couple of weeks in pre-season brings before we get carried away .

What's the panic?

I don't think for one second, that McCall isn't working his nuts off to build and strengthen the team.

Just because the announcements are slow in delivery, doesn't mean they won't be decent.

Keep the faith brother :)

David Castilla

Who are these 'other teams' that seem to be building a squad? So far Airdrie, Brechin, Stenny, Forfar all have around 4 senior players signed, Dunfermline have about 6, Stranraer have all players out of contract, 1 has re-signed and 2 new players signed. It's still May, give McCall another few weeks and we'll where we are from there.
The dream will never die.

bazka6

You just feel when you see another team making a signing that maybe we have missed out somehow, it's not like we're not used to that. Given we avoided the playoffs we should have been ahead of Stranraer/Stenhousemuir etc in making preparations. I'd love to know why McGovern knocked back Ayr and has signed for Stirling. Just want one quality, proven signing to raise hopes for next season.

I think Devlin is an excellent choice as captain. Age is irrelevant. They way he conducts himself on the park is exactly what you would expect from a captain. Regardless of who wears the armband I hope we have a lot more like him when next season kicks off.

I was slightly suprised it was only a one year deal - as McCall said a two year deal was on the table (I think) at the PoY night but I'm not sure how relevant contract lengths are these days.

All speculation so far. We must be patient and get the right people in.

Supershug1910

According to Dean Keenan on Twitter, we have agreed terms with 2 possibly 3 players who will sign the contract this week.

bazka6

Sounds like Paddy Boyle from Airdrie may be one.

tommyv

It's announced Paddy Boyle has signed from Airdrie (Left Back)

Stan_Quinns_Boots

We need a quality goalkeeper now and things will begin to look up, hell I might even buy a season ticket for the first time in 20 years.  ;D

Excellent signing, bags of experience, and always played well against us......

Good to see McCall getting his own team assembled, what a difference from recent pre-seasons, and he should be a good judge of a player...hopefully the first of a good few!
